  • Then I started the drawing process by creating a small thumbnail to get a general idea of how to approach the task

  • I wanted to work on drawings that  encompass the idea of identity and expression →This led to my decision in drawing hair, as it resonates with this concept, with a specific focus on hairstyles seen in African American women.

  • After figuring out my approach, I used my laptop to trace the facial outline to help with the unity of the drawings, and looked for inspirations on google for the hairstyles.

  • At one point, I was suggested to connect time with hair, which I took into consideration. →This suggestion inspired me to focus more on connecting different African American. hairstyles seen throughout different eras and how it reflects upon self and society.

  • As for the website, I wanted to allow visual experience to speak for itself, giving it more flexibility in interpretation, which led me to a visual-museum inspired website.
